I hope everyone had a fabulous break! I can't wait to share all the great pictures on our padlet! Our first quarter is coming to a close....can you believe it?!?! Time certainly does fly! We will spend some time revisiting some of the standards we need extra practice with, and completing our last few standards for this quarter. I am truly looking forward to meeting with everyone to share all the wonderful things your child is doing at school, and making a plan for the remainder of the year! I wanted to Thank Mr. Murphy and Mrs. Hoeller for volunteering to be our Room Parents this year! I so appreciate it! Also, Thank you to Mrs. Achtenberg and Mr. Blackmon for volunteering to cover our class for the first collaboration day. If you think you could come in for one the collab days we still have left to do, please go to the PTA web site and sign up! :) If you have not done so already, please send back your child’s field trip permission forms and the conference appointment slip. Thank you so much. Here is what we are learning next week: Math: Problem solving within 20, fact fluency within 20 Reading/Language Arts: Understanding key details in a text. Using who, what, when, why, how questions when we read and using context clues to understand the meaning of a word or phrase. Writing: Narrative pieces Social Studies: Georgia’s regions, major rivers of Georgia, and moving to government, rules, and laws. Important Dates: Thursday: Mrs. Grindstaff Counseling Wish List: I would love some magazines that we could use to cut out of.... please just send them in anytime! I hope you are all excited about our upcoming break!
I have some reminders for you all! 1. Please make sure you are reading every night. Your child should be completing a reading log and returning it as they fill it up. 2. Math games need to be checked out and played each night. Practicing theese skills is very important. 3. If you have not returned your permission slip for XDrenaline please do so ASAP. Also, We have 2 volunteers going with us, if you would like to go we can take 2 more. Just email me if you are interested. 4. Conference forms are coming home, please sign and return them asap. I hope you all have enjoyed the long weekend. It has been a nice break for sure! :) This week we will be learning: Math: Continuing with addition and subtraction strategies within 20; decomposing numbers and balancing equations. Reading/Language Arts: We will focus on identifying and explaining problems and solutions within stories and continue to focus on questioning while we read and retell stories. We will also be talking about collective nouns. Writing: We will be focusing on writing narrative stories. We are looking at the small moment within our story, making sure to add those great details. Science: We will be finishing our unit on matter and investigating the changes of matter. Social Studies: We will begin a study of the regions of Georgia. STEM: We will be completing the Stuck Like Glue Challenge. Wish List: anti bacterial wipes |
