We had another great week! Second grade is really such a wonderful year! I hope you were all as proud as I was about those reading scores, and report cards! If you have not sent the report card envelope please do so ASAP.
Also, I really need the registration cards filled out and returned ASAP, as the office is waiting for those. And the permission slips for the Chattahoochee Nature Center need to be returned by Friday or sooner. We have some info we need from those before we leave for Spring Break. This week is Exceptional Children’s Week. We will have a guest speaker, Andy Lipman. Make sure to ask your children about this. What are we learning? Dismissal will be 2 hours early. If you want donuts, don’t forget to order them! They will be available Friday. Math: money involving dollar bills, quarters, nickels, dimes, pennies, and problem solving Reading: comparing/contrasting fairy tales, folk tales and fables, comparing shades of meanings with verbs and adjectives and homophones, also er and or suffixes Sci~/Soc St: Completing our Dental Health STEAM act. Writing: opinion Parents, We had a fun week! On Tuesday we listened to some Kennesaw State football players read and Friday we had a special guest reader (Mrs. Alea dressed up as Mrs. Frizzle from Magic School Bus) The kids loved it. This week we have an awesome book fair! Make sure to come by and check it out. Nothing is as exciting as getting new books! The Tritt Trot is this Saturday. I will be running (walking mostly) hope to see you guys! Here is what we are learning this week: Math- Money involving dollar bills, quarters, nickels, dimes, and pennies. We will be comparing and contrasting different versions of the same story/Shades of Meaning of verbs (toss, throw, hurl) and closely related adjectives (thin, slender, skinny, scrawny) Writing- Opinion Writing Social Studies/Science- Sun/stars; comparing and contrasting by using physical attributes like size and brightness.
